Setting up Mac OS 10.2 for CHSI

Description: This page contains a walk through on how to set up Mac OS 10.2 (Jaguar) for Comcast High Speed Internet.

Symptoms: You have Mac OS 10.2 and are a new Comcast customer.

Goal: Setup the Mac to work with Comcast's service.

  1. Go to the Apple Menu and choose System Preferences. Click on network.


  2. Change "Show" to Built-in Ethernet.



  3. Set "Configure" to Using DHCP.


  4. Click Apply Now.


  5. Click on the PPPoE tab. Make sure "Connect using PPPoE" is NOT checked.


  6. Click on the AppleTak tab. Ensure there is a check mark to Make AppleTalk Active.


  7. Click on the Proxies tab. Make sure this box is empty.


  8. Click Apply Now.


  9. Click the System Preferences menu and choose Quit.
