Symptoms: If you previously had dialup and have switched to high speed internet and can't get pages to load. It may be because your internal modem is still active and attempting to use your old dial up settings to connect. The simplest way to deal with this is to disable the internal modem port in your Network System Preferences by following these steps.
- If you see this (or any) error in Internet Connect follow the steps below to disable your internal modem.
- Click on the Apple menu and choose System Preferences.
- Click on Built-in Ethernet and choose Network Port Configurations from the menu that pops up.
- Internal Modem will have a check mark next to it.
- Click in the check box next to Internal Modem to make the check mark disappear. Click
.
- Click on Network Port Configurations and choose Built-in Ethernet (note that Internal Modem is no longer in the list).
- Click on the System Preferences menu and choose Quit System Preferences.
