Setting up Mail in OS 10.2

Description: This page contains a walk through on setting up Mac OS 10.2 Mail for Comcast.

Symptoms: Can't send or receive comcast.net email.

Goal: Follow these steps to setup Mail for comcast.net.

  1. When launching Mail for the first time you will see this dialog box to import other mailboxes. Click No.
  2. Click the Mail menu and choose Preferences.
  3. In the Accounts pane click Add Account.
  4. In the Account Information window click on .Mac and change it to POP.
  5. Fill in the appropriate Comcast email account information.
  6. Click the button and fill in outgoing mail server information and click OK.
  7. Click OK to close the Account Information window.
  8. Ensure that new account is listed then click red button to close window.
