This page contains a walk through for settings up Mac OS 10.3 (Panther) for Comcast High Speed Internet.
- Click on the Apple Menu and choose System Preferences.
- Click the Network icon.
- Locate and double click on Built-in Ethernet. You can also click the Configure button.
- These are the Network settings that need to be confirmed:
- The "Location" should be set to "Automatic."
- "Show" should read "Built-in Ethernet."
- The TCP/IP button should be blue.
- Ensure that "Configure IPv4" is set to Using DHCP. No other changes are needed in this window.
- Click the PPPoE button. Ensure that there are no check marks anywhere in this window.
- Click the AppleTalk button. Making AppleTalk active is a user preference. This is generally used for peer-to-peer file sharing.
- Click on the Proxies button.
- The image below is the default settings for the Proxies settings.
- Nothing needs to be changed in this window.
- Click on the Ethernet button. Ensure the "Configure" is set to Automatically. Also note this is a good way to find the Ethernet ID (MAC address) if you ever need it.
- When finished click System Preferences and choose Quit System Preferences from the menu.
