This page contains a walk through of the setup assistant for Mac 10.3 Mail application. This assistant is only seen on the first launch of Mail.
- When opening Mail for the first time you will see this dialog box.
- Complete the account information:
- Full Name: Enter your name with standard capitalization.
- Email Address: Enter your comcast email address (in lower case letters).
- Incoming Mail Server: This box should contain the mail server name: mail.comcast.net in lower case letters.
- Account Type: Ensure this reads POP.
- User Name: The User Name is the email address without the "@comcast.net" part.
- Password: Enter the email password for this account.
- Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): Enter in the mail server address as: smtp.comcast.net in lower case letters.
- Click OK when finished.
- After clicking OK Mail will verify the account information. If any information is incorrect this process will fail.
- If the verification process is successful you will be prompted to Import Mailboxes. Click No to expedite the setup process. Mailboxes can always be imported later.
- The dialog box below is designed to introduce you to the new enhancements in Mail. If you click Yes you'll be taken on a tour. If you click No it will take you right to the Mail interface.
