CHSI Setup for Mac OS 8.5-9.2

Description: Follow the steps on this page to properly configure Mac OS 8.5-9.2 for Comcast High Speed Internet.

Symptoms: Mac has never been setup for Comcast High Speed Internet or is unable to connect.

Goal: To configure/verify settings for Comcast High Speed Internet.

  1. Click on the Apple Menu . Mouse down to . Click on TCP/IP.

  2. After the TCP/IP control panel opens ensure that "Connect via:" is set to Ethernet built-in.
    Ensure that "Configure" is set to Using DHCP Server.

  3. At the top of the screen click on the Edit menu and choose User Mode.

  4. When the User Mode dialog box opens select Advanced.
    Click OK to close the box and return to the TCP/IP control panel.

  5. In the lower right corner of the TCP/IP control panel click the button

  6. In the TCP/IP Options dialog box uncheck Load only when needed.
    Click OK to close the dialog box and return to the TCP/IP control panel.

  7. Click the close box.

  8. After clicking the close box you will be prompted to save the changes. Click the Save button.

  9. The setup is now complete.
