Description: This site contains a walk through and explaination
of the preferences for Safari version 1.1.1 (Mac OS 10.3.x).
- To open preferences click on the Safari menu and choose
Preferences.
- The first preference is the General pane. These are the items
contained in the General pane:
- Default Web Browser: Allows the user to pick the default web
browser.
- New windows open with: Allows the user to choose home page
options including a default address, empty page, same page, or
bookmarks.
- Home Page: Web page address for the home page.
- Save downloaded files to: Defaults to desktop. Can change
folder to any other folder.
- Remove download list items: Options for when to remove
downloaded files from the download manager. The option are Manually,
when safari quits, upon successful download.
- Check box for opening safe files after downloading. Safe files
include movies, pictures, sounds, PDF and text documents, etc.
- Open links from Applications: choices are in a new window or in the
current window.
- The Default Web Browser menu allows the user to select the
default web browser from the ones installed on the Mac.
- The Home Page selection allows the user to adjust which page
he or she wants to have as the home page.
- The Save downloaded files to menu defaults to the desktop.
Use this selection to change the download folder if desired.
- The Remove download list items determines when downloads will
be deleted from the download manager.
