    2. Under normal cirumstances the NIC card icon will appear as it does in the image below.

  3. The window below will pop up after clicking Properties. Remember, for the purposes of this web page, the card is not installed properly so the Device Status would read that the device is not working properly.

  5. After clicking the "Update Driver" button the Update Device Driver Wizard will open up.
    1. Ensure the radio button for Automatic search... ... [Recommended] is selected.
    2. Click the Next button to continue.

  6. Windows will attempt to find the driver in the Windows directory.
    1. The Copying Files... dialog box will open when the driver files can not be found in the Windows directory (this is usually the case).
    2. Click the Browse button.

  7. The Open dialog box will open up.
    1. Click the down arrow icon in the Drives box and choose the CD-ROM drive letter.

  8. Navigate the folders on the CD until the driver file name matches in both panes under File Name.
    1. Click OK.

  9. The directory path leading to the device driver should now be listed in the Copying Files... window.
    1. Click OK.
    2. You will see a quick dialog box flash by stating that the files are being copied from the drive.

  10. After the files are copied the "Update Device Driver Wizard" will be finished. Click Finish.
  11. The PC should prompt you to restart. After restarting the Ethernet card should work.
