DaVinci Days
Antweight Combat Robot Tournament
July 21st, 2002
A Western Allied Robotics Event.

My robot, The Fly vs. my nemesis, the dreaded but very impressive I-Lash.
Both my losses were to this one bot.

I-Lash again, this time fighting the surprising and effective Arrogant Bastard (or Arrogant "B" for the kiddies.)

A poor picture of Rat Amok fighting the full body spinner Harpo.

Scoopy fighting (I think) Recycler. Hard to tell from the photo.

"Them" gets up-ended and loses by KO. The addition of a small screw out the back solved this problem once and for all.

Ripple vs. Recycler. Looks like Ripple's got the upper hand here!

And perhaps here too.
THE FINAL!!!

I-Lash, from the losers bracket, vs. Rat Amok, from the winners bracket. Rat Amok had to win once to be crowned the DaVinci Days champion while I-Lash had to beat Rat Amok twice in a row. No small feat as Rat Amok was so far undefeated!

One of the final two matches. I-Lash vs Rat Amok. I-Lash took the first of the two battles, so they charged up the batteries, cooled off the motors, and went at it for another 3 minutes. Yeah, that's what we like to see!

If you look close, you can see I-Lash sitting on end. It was almost counted out right here. While it got going right at "3...2...1..." getting pinned like that sealed its fate. Rat Amok WINS!!! Congrats to Mark Joerger who was a great sport and a great winner (that's Mark right there in the picture.)
THE RUMBLE!!!

Here you can see my robot, The Fly, taking a bite out of the competition.

The Fly is out at this point, but several others are still hammering away!

Ouch! That's Steelhead there without a wheel. Them's sizing up Arrogant Bastard while I-Lash tangles with Ripple and Harpo.

MAYHEM!!!
That about wrapped it up for the DaVinci Days Antweight tournament. It was loads of fun and I can't wait to do it again. The Fly went 4wins and 2 losses which resulted in 4th place overall (not bad vs 14 other robots) and it'll be bigger and stronger next time! Watch out you spinners!!!
