I heard these cams and I knew right
away, I had to have them.

After deciding to go ahead with the project, I
put together a list of items needed.

Special Ford tools:

303-1175    Locking tool, timing chain.
303-1039    Compressor, valve spring.
                    Ford service manual (on DVD).

Parts:

1 (ea) M-6550-3V            Hot Rod Cam set
Here are the part #'s, from the 2 boxes (just incase you need them).
XE-6251-309994     (WORQ#0964642    $91 )
XE-6C255-309995  (WORQ#0964662    $86  )

2 (ea) 3L3Z-6279-DA      Cam sprocket bolts (they are one time use)

The following items are not absolutely necessary, I did the cover
gaskets, because they are only about $12 each. The cam covers I
did, simply because I wanted nice looking cam covers......

1 (ea) 3L3Z-6584-DB      Cam cover gasket
1 (ea) 3L3Z-6584-EA      Cam cover gasket
1 (ea) M-6582-3VBLK    Cam covers (went with black powder coat)

I got the Special Ford Tools from the SPX Motorcraft website:
http://www.fordspecialtools.com/

I got the Ford service manual on DVD from:
http://www.lightningforceperformance.com

I placed my parts order with Tousley Ford (Steve/FRPP parts department).

Here are the Ford Special Tools:

While waiting for my cams, I practiced removing and installing the cam followers:

I initially used cylinder #4 to practice on, I pulled the cam followers
off of both intake valves, then reinstalled them.

Here is the valve spring compressor set up on cylinder #4, on one
of the intake valves.

Here is the intake valve spring compressed and the cam follower out:

Putting the cam follower back in place (hint: it's very tight in there and there's not
much wiggle room):

It was nice having the Ford Service Manual nearby:

All back together again:
