Variations of the Name NOUD :

GNOUD, GONOUD, KNOUD, KNOWD, NOWD.

Noud rare: Kildare. Ir. Ó Nuadhat, perhaps from first name Nuada, legendary ancestor of the Leinstermen.
Ó Nuadhat Noud: annamh: Cill Dara. Mhaígh na Laighnigh gur shíolraigh siad ó Nuada - an muir-dhia. Tá na leagain Newth, Nowd & Knowd ann, leis.

Kilrush, in county Kildare is 7 miles from Athy, a townland in the Parish of Suncroft.
In Kilrush there is a very old cemetery with the ruins of an old Church in the graveyard situated in the middle of a field where some Nouds are buried just half a mile from there is a House occupied by Liam Noud and has been occupied by Nouds for several generations. The house being several hundred years old and was originally know as the Blacksmith Forge. The nearest Catholic Church is in Suncroft three miles away, St Brigid's Catholic Church .

I just came across this site by chance. I am one of the Nouds you speak
of from Kilrush, Athy, Co. Kildare. There are quite a few of us in the
townland (my family, my uncle and my grandparents). From what research
has being done by us (and it is not easy) we have being traced back as
being the oldest family in Kilrush. Where exactly we came from no one
could seem to find out. The house where my grandmother lives (my
grandfather, John Noud died about 2 years ago aged 88 yrs) has always
being occupied by the Nouds. For definite John Noud's parents,
grandparents and great grand parents where all raised in this house.
Going back the family where blacksmiths with some old maps of Kilrush
showing the house marked as such and many old antiques such as anvels
still to be found around the house.
I have also heard of Nouds in County Carlow, which I assume are some
distant relation. Outside of that there are some in America, Canada and
Australia.
Hope this is of some interest to you, if you need any other info that I
may be able to find out let me know,

CONDOLENCES: The sincere sympathy of the
community of Kilmead is extended to the Noud Family, Kilrush, on the recent death of their mother,
Catherine (Kitty) which occurred suddenly. A Kildare woman through and through Mrs. Noud was
pre deceased by her son, Se·n, and husband, John. She was a very independent woman and was a
familiar figure as she drove herself into Athy regularly for shopping. She is deeply mourned by her children,
Seamus, Liam, Catherine and Mary, sons in law, daughters in law, and her two brothers and sister and
she will be very sadly missed by her fifteen grandchildren. Acousin of the Noud family, Fr. Dan,
officiated at her large funeral and we extend sympathy also to Fr. Dan whose sister, Sheila, died

LARRIES LOTTO: How is it so difficult to predict three numbers? Amazingly, the jackpot now stands at 3,400 and would-n’t this just do the trick to chase all those Summer blues away! Liam Noud was appointed as CNM3 at St Dympna’s Psychiatric Hospital, Carlow recently and will be involved in liaising between the hospital and the acute unit at St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny. Liam previously held the post of acting director of nursing for seven years and nursing officer for nine years at St Dympna’s, where he also trained as a psychiatric nurse.
