WHY TAKE KARATE?

Karate is a great aerobic exercise. A fun way to get and stay in shape, while learning something useful. Builds self confidence and self-esteem. Learn to defend and protect yourself.

HISTORY OF OKINAWAN SEIDOKAN KARATE

Okinawan Karate has a rich heritage and is an ongoing legacy passed on from the masters of antiquity to the current generation of instructors or sensei. What does Seidokan mean? Seidokan translated means house of the righteous way. To understand the present art of Seidokan one needs to look back 13 generations to the Royal Imperial Family of Okinawa. Seidokan or Seidokan Motobu-Ryu was known as Go-Ten-Te (palace hand) and was based upon the secret Te arts of the Motobu family in 1648. Seidokan, the oldest karate art of Okinawa, consists of Karate (open hand self defense), Kobu-Jutsu (weapons) and Toide (grappling arts). Seidokan is not to be confused with the modern day sport Karate. The sole aim of Seidokan is self defense.
