Two: Slayer, Come Home
More or less at the same time, the Slayer returned to town with a new Watcher, Darien returned home with his soul put back, and Jack (Watcher Jack, not Werewolf Jack) returned with a new job as a consultant for Wolfram & Hart’s New York City branch.
Intrigue builds as Jack goes to work providing mystical assistance to a very important W&H client: the Master Vampire who runs all vice in NYC, Alejandra’s arch-enemy. New enemies and allies appear on both sides, leading to a heated battle that doesn’t turn out well for the good guys.
Secrets and Surprise Developments:
The Initiative Squad is still in town, the focus of their goal shifted from stopping the Ascension to putting the brakes on the vampire that is running the town’s criminal empire. The Squad has shrunk from five members to three, and two of those three have been re-cast with new actors.
Jack managed to keep his involvement with the bad guys secret from the Slayer and her friends, and also managed to keep it from the bad guys that he was working to make sure the Slayer and her friends survived the coming conflict.
Al’s new Watcher suffers from a family curse which means she has a demon living inside her, always vying to take over her body. She keeps it in check by regularly injecting a solution of holy water, garlic, and clover leaf.
One of the Scoobies, a police detective by day, begins a quest to attempt to redeem Victor, whom he has now learned is a vampire.
