Objectives of Coulee Region Cat Club

The exhibition and showing of felines along with education to the public on their purr-sonalities, proper care and benefits.

The Coulee Region Cat Club, named for the Coulee Region of eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin near La Crosse, was chartered as an ACFA club in April, 1988.

Except for two years in Rochester, Minnesota, the cat shows hosted by the club have been held in Onalaska, Wisconsin. Their themes have always been entertaining and fun—Meow Luau, Putting on the Ritz, Second-Hand Rose, and many others. In recent years, the fun has included cat costume contests, originally championed by club member Eddie Kanieski. The club has hosted the ACFA North Central regional meetings and awards banquet twice, most recently in 2001.

There are no regular club meetings, because the members are geographically dispersed. In the words of one of the founders, "The most wonderful thing about the Coulee Club is that everyone from everywhere was there when needed, all with different talents. No one was asked—they just contributed as needed and seemed to do so because they wanted to. We had no meetings and no disagreements, just a great show and great friends."
