Black Cone Trail

Pushing through heavy Brush near the junction of Black Cone and Pine Ridge Trails. Feint tred was at times hard to see but the trail itself is obvious.

Hey! where's that trail!

An abundance of blooms on the first leg of the Black Cone. Trail had been recently worked.

Plenty of wildflowers on trail.

One of the very few Easterly views from the trail proper. Tassajaro Creek lies out of sight in valley, and this photograph does not in any way do justice to the view. I took this near a place on the map called Mosquito Springs, though I found no trace of water. Load up on Water at Pine Ridge Camp. The next reliable spring I came across was at White Mountain.

Venturi Camp is a two tent affair nestled into a sheltered notch on a ridge. Wild pigs rototilled this camp after I turned in.

White Mountain is in an arid southern end of trail but had a strong spring on tthe trail.

I have no knowledge why these three large gas cylinders were used for.

Smeday I'll go back and climb these peaks.

Beautiful and awsome visability made these distant views truly spectacular.

Headwaters of the No. Fork Big Sur River.

Views are towrds Tassajaro Creek, Church Creek(over devide), and somewhere out there Tassajaro Road and China Camp(terminus of Pine Ridge Trail).
