| Frontier Woman | Family Resting on Trip West | A Family Burial Site |
"Where my husband goes I can go. I can better stand the hardships of the journey than the anxieties for an absent husband." Nancy Kelsey became the first white woman to cross what was to become Utah.
Beth Dorough presents information at Stop #3 entitled, "Women of the Gold Rush Period." She tells of the hardships women endured on the trip west and the racial discrimination many experienced once they arrived in California. Numerous photos and diaries vividly describe life on the trail west. Head stones in the Morgan W. Quick family burial plot attest to the tragedy Deborah Quick endured. And, her life was not at all uncommon.
