Raisins Drying on the Vine

"If we are to survive as raisin farmers, we must continue to look for ways to reduce costs and double production.
Drying grapes "On The Vine" is one way of meeting those challenges. Those who do remain will do so by adopting new grape growing methods and also by using mechanical harvesters."     Paul Green

Meet Paul Green, a raisin farmer, who owns his own Dry-On-Vine Harvester. Mr. Green converted his grape vines from the dry-on-ground raisins to the Sun-Maid South Side Dry-On-Vine system. During the interview, the teacher/enrollee gets to see raisins being harvested by the dry-on-vine harvester and hear Mr. Green explain the harvesting process and why he no longer has his grapes hand picked and dried on the ground.
