Tim’s Online Journal

Friends Page

3 August 2005—Ta-da! I have finished and published photos of my travels in France. Yeah! I can check that one off my list of things to do. Check it out for Tim's take on Paris and places like that.

And, as always, let me know what you think.

31 July 2005—I'm back from my little, four-week jaunt abroad and am slowly updating my LiveJournal blog and, what I think everyone is most anxious to see, my photo albums. If you have not been reading my blog you might be interested to know that I took approximately 2400 pictures while I was wandering around Italy and France—that's not quite a hundred a day. I've now done my best to pare those down to fewer than 200 images—roughly 100 each for Italy and France. That's still a lot and I apologize. Still, I think you can flip through my albums fairly quickly. I hope so anyway. As I write this, the album covering Italy is finished and about to go live; its French twin will probably take another few days. Please note: A lot of really good images ended up on the cutting room floor and, if you are among those who get cornered into watching my slideshow, rest assured that you will see new things. Also, if you see a picture you are particularly enamored with, let me know and I'll send you a high-resolution copy.

If you haven't already, you might want to take a look at the blog entries about my time in Italy as they are the narrative the photos illustrate. I should point out that additional images and commentary can be found on Morgan's website and in her blog.

Finally, although I think I have done it in several places, I do want to thank those that made my time in Europe especially wonderful: Claudia, Lara, Morgan, Elisabeth, Cathy, Thierry, Lea, and Eva.

Looking ahead, once I get my pictures from France posted, I'll be putting together another album or two covering the Seattle visits of friends Christine and Julie and my nephew Joel and his girlfriend, so watch for that.

20 June 2005—Finally. Here it is the much revised and updated Infinite Abyss. With luck I’ve made things easier to find—and then find again—as well as to make it flexible enough to take the pain out of updating it with new photo albums and the like. That is the plan anyway. . . . I did want to get this finished before I left for Italy and France—not that I’ll have much of an opportunity or means to update it while I’m away (the laptop is staying home), but it should make it easier to keep track of me and, when I get back, for me to post my photos and such.

What is here

This is really designed to be sort of a hub for my online activity. From here you should be able to check out my blog (powered by LiveJournal—it makes blogging easy and, unless you want the fancy stuff, free), view my photo albums, meet and visit my friends who are also online, and other things. All this stuff can be accessed through the links at the left side of your screen.

If I did it right, it should be fairly self-explanatory, but here's a brief rundown of what’s here:

  • Cafe_Zeke—This, of course, is my blog. It is an online journal where I can post things going on in my life, muse aloud, post pictures and rant and rave about things. I update it when I can and when the mood hits so it's a good idea to check in here every once in a while to see what I've been up to. I’ll be doing my best to keep it current while I’m traveling this summer (although there probably won’t be any photos until I come home.

As a blog, though, it is also a place where you can respond to my posts with your own thoughts and comments and I encourage you to do so—at the very least it is nice to know that someone is reading it! So don‘t be shy—just click “Post a Comment,” check “Anonymous“ if you don‘t yet have a LiveJournal account, and type away in the comment box, clicking ”Post Comment“ when you finish. Please, though, when you do post, include your name so I know who is saying what. If I were really talented, my LiveJournal window would be embedded in this page, but I’m not as clever as Morgan.

  • Friends Page—This is one of the coolest features of LiveJournal. It is a link to a summary page of the entries from all of my friends who have their own blogs. By clicking on Friends Page I (and you) can be up to date on what’s going on in their lives with little muss or fuss. Now, if more people had blogs, keeping in touch would be easy!

  • Photo Albums—This is where I put links to all my various photo albums. The newest album is France—July 2005 and it has pictures of the first half of my trip to Europe. A second album, covering my stay in France is coming very soon.

  • Friends Online—These are links to many (not all, yet) of my friends who have some kind of online presence: their own homepages or blogs or something. If you have a homepage or blog and are not listed here, please let me know and I’ll put you on my list.

  • Miscellaneous stuff—This is kind of a bin for all sorts of things: documents you might want to read, links to pages I found interesting, or oddball things I’ve created that just don’t seem to fit anywhere else. You may need Adobe Reader to view some of these documents—but you probably already have it on your computer. If not, go here.
