"I WILL RAISE UP A MIGHTY HOST OF LITTLE SAINTS..."
Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face, nicknamed "Little Flower," was born an unknown French girl, the youngest of five daughters and the last of nine children, in 1873 in the Lisieux, France. Her family was moderately well off and had the income of two parents, her father worked as a watchmaker and her mother made lace. The family was loving, supportive, and taught a strong love of God and each other.
Therese's childhood was not completely happy. When Therese was only four her mother died of cancer. Seeking to give his children the best he could, Louis, Therese's father, sold his business and moved in with his brother-in-law, who lived in Lisieux. Louis was now able to provide individual attention and a stable life for his children. Louis spent large amounts of time with Therese, many times going to the Carmelite chapel to pray together.
At the age of fifteen, she was determined to follow two of her sisters in a sacred calling to be a nun of the Carmelite convent. Her declaration as she joined the order was simple and direct: "I want to be a saint." After gaining special permission from the pope, Therese entered the Carmelite monastery. So, at the end of the nineteenth century, she was a Carmelite nun, where she spent the rest of her life. St Therese of Lisieux chose a simple life of service in the convent, where she could be as "obscure as a grain of sand." In her daily life, Therese lived a holy life and did not go out of her way to show her virtue. She sought to please God by doing the simple things, this became the basis of her "little way."
She knew that her greatest work would come later. "After my death," she declared, "I will let fall a shower of roses. I will spend my heaven doing good on earth. My mission is to make God loved..." In April 1896, Therese began to develop tuberculosis. She died 18 months later on October 1, 1897. The "shower" that she mentioned began shortly after her death. The sick were cured. Hospitals, orphanages and schools found the funding they needed. She appeared to the sick, the dying, to soldiers on the battlefield. Always, roses, or the scent of roses accompanied her intercession. Soon after her death, people proclaimed Therese to be a saint.
The church officially canonized her in 1925. Pope Pius X declared her "the greatest saint of modern times." In 1997, Pope John Paul II declared her a Doctor of the Church, because of the impact of her spirituality on so many. In 2000, Pope John Paul II made her a Saint. People today throughout the world invoke her great name, and are blessed by roses in their lives. During her life, she had many writings, which were complied into books. One of the most famous is "The Story of a Soul." She is the patroness of florists, missions and France.

PRAYER OF ST. THERESA OF JESUS TO THE HOLY FACE
O Jesus, who in Thy bitter Passion didst become "the most abject of men, a man of sorrows," I venerate Thy Sacred Face whereon there once did shine the beauty and sweetness of the Godhead; but now it has become for me as if it were the face of a leper! Nevertheless, under those disfigured features, I recognize Thy infinite Love and I am consumed with the desire to love Thee and make Thee loved by all men. The tears which well up abundantly in Thy sacred eyes appear to me as so many precious pearls that I love to gather up, in order to purchase the souls of poor sinners by means of their infinite value. O Jesus, whose adorable Face ravishes my heart, I implore Thee to fix deep within me Thy divine image and to set me on fire with Thy Love, that I may be found worthy to come to the contemplation of Thy glorious Face in Heaven. Amen.

SONG OF ST. THERESE OF LISIEUX - A PRAYER:
" O you who came to smile on me At the dawn of life’s beginning
Come once again to smile on me . . . Mother!
The night is nigh. I fear no more your majesty, So far removed above me,
For I have suffered much with you; Now hear me, Mother mild!
Let me tell you, face to face, Dear Mary, how I love you;
And say to you forevermore; I am your little child."
Prayer: God our Father, You destined Your Kingdom for Your children who are humble.
Help us to imitate the way of St. Therese, so that, by her intercession,
we may attain the eternal glory which You promised. Amen."

MY VOCATION IS LOVE (ST. THERESE OF LISIEUX, 1896):
Without showing Himself and without making His voice heard, Jesus teaches each of us, revealed to the eye of the soul. This is how St. Therese of Lisieux heard Jesus as she gathered divine instructions, divine secrets of heaven from Him. These were revealed often to her, but remain foreign to may today. He teaches not by books but when one remains in silence, in love and gratitude at the end of a prayer. When all is calm and at rest, we address Jesus and he hears.
It is the science (the art) of love gained from the book of life, from life's experiences. "It is only love that makes us acceptable to God, that this love is the only good ambition." Having given all my riches for it, I esteem it as having given nothing ..." Jesus designed the road to this Divine Love, which is the surrender of the little child who sleeps without fear in its Father's arms. "Whoever is a little one, let him come to me." (Proverbs 9:4) The Spirit of Love says: "For to him that is little, mercy will be shown." (Wisdom 6:7) And, "As one whom a mother caresses, so will I comfort you; you shall be carried at the breasts and upon the knees they will caress you." (Isaiah 66:12-13) One must do nothing but be upon your knees and silent before the Lord and weep with gratitude, love and joy. This is the summit of the mount of Divine Love. At such times, the Lord speaks to you in silence of His love and mercy. "Jesus does not demand great actions from us but simply surrender and gratitude." "Offer to God the sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving."
When Jesus said at the well, "Give me to drink," (John 4:7) "it was the love of His poor creature the Creator of the universe was seeking. He was thirsty for love." Even among His own disciples in the world He meets only the ungrateful and indifferent, and He finds few hearts who surrender to Him without reservation, few who understand the real tenderness of His infinite Divine Love.

("Story of a Soul")

JESUS ALONE:
1    My burning heart wants to give itself unceasingly.
It needs to prove its tenderness. | Ah! who will be able to understand my love?
What heart will want to pay me in return?.... | But I crave this return in vain.
Jesus, you alone can satisfy my soul. | Nothing can charm me here below.
True happiness cannot he found here
My only peace, my only happiness, My only love is you, Lord!...
2    O you who knew how to create the mother’s heart,
I find in you the tenderest of Fathers! | My only Love, Jesus, Eternal Word,
For me your heart is more than maternal. | At each moment, you follow me, you watch over me.
When I call you, ah! you never tarry. | And if sometimes you seem to hide yourself,
It’s you who come to help me look for you.
3    It’s to you alone, Jesus, that I’m attached.
It’s into your arms that I run and hide. | I want to love you like a little child.
I want to fight like a brave warrior.
Like a child full of little attentions, | Lord, I want to overwhelm you with caresses
And in the field of my apostolate, | Like a warrior I throw myself into the fight!.
4    Your heart that preserves and restores innocence
Won’t betray my trust! | In you, Lord, rests my hope.
After this exile, I’ll go to see you in Heaven.
When in my heart the storm arises, | To you, Jesus, I lift up my head.
In your merciful look, | I read: "Child, for you I made the Heavens."
5    I know well, my sighs and tears
Are before you, all radiant with charms. | The seraphim in Heaven form your court,
And yet you beg for my love? | You want my heart, Jesus, I give it to you.
I surrender all my desires to you, |And those whom I love, 0 my Spouse, my King,
From now on I only want to love them for you.

TO OUR LADY OF VICTORIES - Queen of Virgins, Apostles, and Martyrs:
1    You who fulfill my hope, | Mother, hear the humble song
Of love and gratitude
That comes from the heart of your child.....
2    You have united me forever | With the works of a Missionary,
By the bonds of prayer, | Suffering, and love.
3    He will cross the earth | To preach the name of Jesus.
I will practice humble virtues | In the background and in mystery.
4    I crave suffering. | I love and desire the Cross.....
To help save one soul, | I would die a thousand times!.....
5    Ah! for the Conqueror of souls | I want to sacrifice myself in Carmel,
And through Him to spread the fire | That Jesus brought down from Heaven.
6    Through Him, what a ravishing mystery, | Even as far as East Szechuan
I shall be able to make loved | The virginal name of my tender Mother!.....
7    In my deep solitude, | Mary... I want to win hearts.
Through your Apostle, I shall convert sinners | As far as the ends of the earth.
8    Through Him, the holy waters of Baptism | Will make of the tiny little newborn babe
The temple where God Himself | Deigns to dwell in his love.
9    I want to fill with little angels | The brilliant eternal abode.....
Through Him, hosts of children | Will take flight to heaven!.....
10    Through Him, I’ll be able to gather | The palm for which my soul yearns.
Oh what hope! Dear Mother, | I shall he the sister of a Martyr!!!
..............................................................................................................
11    After this life’s exile, | On the evening of the glorious fight,
We shall enjoy the fruits of our apostolate In our Homeland.
12    For Him, Victory’s honor | Before the army of the Blessed.
For me... the reflection of His Glory | For all eternity in the Heavens!.....
