The Ball Parks of New
Hampshire
Merchants Auto Stadium
Manchester, NH
The Fisher Cats ballpark has now been in service for a few years now. This will be a great place to see a ball game for many years to come. I have since had an opportunity to attend
quite a few games at the park.

Going to the Game?
Now
that I have had an opportunity to attend quite a few games......here are some of my best tips.
TICKETS/SEATS: There is not a bad seat in the entire ballpark. All ballpark seats are wide and comfortable as well.
RECOMENDATIONS: Buy a ticket on the third base, SEC 101/102 furthest rows back that you can get.
The river is in the background and a cool breeze is blowing on summer nights.
Plus your closer to the entrance/exit and concessions/restrooms.
PARKING: Parking is tough to find close to the park, especially if there is another event
occurring at the same time up the street at the Verizon. If you can get there
60-90 minutes before game time there are plenty of parking meters where you can
park for less than $2. There are also lots across the street at the mill
buildings for $3. If you decide to park closer to the park, where you still have
to walk you will pay $10+ to park.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Pay the $3 near the
Mill buildings. Meter Maids check the area and give tickets right up to 7:59pm
and issue a ticket when they can. For $3 you simply cross the street and walk a
short distance you are there. It is also easier to escape the congestion of
traffic from across the street rather than be bottled up near the park.
Gill Stadium,
Manchester, NH
One of the oldest stadiums in the country received many
upgrades in 2003-2004 with the announcement of a new AA minor league team
returning to Manchester. A lot of charm at the old ballpark but very outdated
and not the closest to the action. Stadium is close to downtown but in one of
the worst areas in the city. Parking also is hard to find when there is an
event.
Nice to see a ball game from a historic stadium but more than
likely you'll get a seat with an obstructed view. Unless your a true history
buff...the overall experience is not good at Gill. More obstructed views at Gill
then at Fenway...that just about says it all. Thanks GILL...you were a nice
temporary home for the Fisher Cats even though it was just for one season.

» August 17, 1914: In Manchester, NH, Babe Ruth pitches the Red
Sox to a 4–2 exhibition win over the local New England League team. Ruth will be
sent to the Providence Grays (IL) tomorrow after finally clearly waivers.

"Historic" Holman
Stadium, Nashua, NH
An absolutely picture perfect ball park. Plenty of free
parking and the most comfortable seats around. Has been home to many minor
league teams in the past including Nashua Dodgers teams that included Roy
Campenella. A true gem. Unfortunately the only opportunity to see a game in Holman these days is a High School or Men's League Game.

Alumni Field, Keene, NH
A great place to see a ball game. I lived just outside of
Keene for a couple of years and really enjoyed attending Keene Swamp Bats games (NECBL). Field has a lot of charm
with wooden bleachers and prices that can't be beat. Wooden bleachers hard to
sit on so bring a lawn chair. Plenty of room to set your chair close to the
field and be close to the action. Fence has short distances, expect lots of high
scoring games here. A highly recommended baseball
experience.

Memorial Field,
Concord, NH
Very little charm to the field. Also doubles as the high
school field and also has hosted several youth tournaments in the past. There
are many aluminum bleachers at the park which are hard to sit on for nine
innings. There also is no place to put down lawn chairs or a blanket like you
can in Keene. I also did not like the very high steel fence which surrounds the
stands, very hard to see over. The NECBL's Quarry Dogs left to go to Lynn, MA.
