California Motorcycle Trip

This was not our best trip.

We had a good first day riding from Tucson to Victorville. It was a 650 mile day. We took the Imperial highway to Julian and then up through the mountains to Big Bear Lake. In the meantime I managed to lose one of my saddlebags.

The next morning we had some great riding on Angels Crest highway. We had a great breakfast at Newcomb's nch Restaurant. Then coming out of the mountains Dave ran off the road on Big Tujunga Canyon Road coming into Sunland. This is about 20 miles north of Pasadena. We spent the next couple of days recuperating in a Motel 6 in Arcadia until Carol and Mick could come with a car and trailer to rescue Dave. I drove home alone.

A nice breakfast at Newcomb's
The end of the road at the top of Angels Crest. Motorcycle heaven.
This is what Dave saw just before things went bad. See that hole?
It doesn't look all that bad but the whole road was very rough.
This is the abrupt road edge that did in the front wheel and tire.
Looking back up the road from where the bike stopped.
The engine cover was broken leaking oil.
The Arcadia Motel 6 was the perfect place to recover.
