We drove the coast roads through St. Petersburg and then north and east through central Florida. This is beautiful country with farms and horse ranches. We stopped to see the Don Garlits Dragster Museum in Ocala Florida then continued on to Amelia Island. It is a small island in the very northern corner of Florida.

Then Amelia Island

Amelia Island is the most northerly point on the Atlantic coast in Florida. It is a wonderful beach town but also has a historic downtown area in the small town of Fernandina Beach.

We again had beautiful beaches with lota of shells.

We watched as they escorted a nuclear submarine out to sea.

Our wonderful B&B on the beach. This is the Elizabeth Point Lodge.

There was a Civil War fort on the island.

We took a walking tour of all the historic houses.
