July 1968 - Five days in a mental hospital, thanks to a drug bust.
January 1971 to August 1972 - Twenty months in a tramp freighter in a
"para-naval" adventure group.
July 1973 to January 1974 - A voyage as navigator of the yacht Warana from Tonga to Australia and the running of the Sydney-Hobart yacht race.
