How-to: Necronomicon Mini-book Invitation
by Melissa

This little notebook would make a fun invitation! You have six small pages to enter your details. You'd need some minor layout experience, MS Word experience and access to a color printer.

Disclaimer: Ray O'Bannen designed the faboo mini-book & I'm applying my idea to his existing art. Neither he nor his site have anything to do with this one.

  1. Download the Word document for Book 3 on the Haunted Paper Toys' Necronomicon Notebooks page (Books 1 & 2 are cool, but have illustrations - I haven't tried this method with them, but it could work!).
  2. Add text boxes over the "parchment" pages, following the guide below. When you add text boxes in Word, make sure nothing in the image is clicked on (otherwise it will put whatever is selected into a text box).

  3. After you create the text box, select the text and go to Format/Text Direction to make the text turn the way you want, then go to Format/Text Box to turn off the border and fill.

  4. After you print it, follow the directions to assemble, then mail! How it looks will depend on the font you use and the quality of your printer. I printed them w/o text (before I thought of this) on a color laser using plain paper and they look really cool. I also tried it on a plain laser with the text and the idea works. See the main Links page for some fun font options.
