My
brother, Brian David Smith, 41, passed away on November 7, 2005, in our
hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana.
He is survived by two children: Jonathan Tribby and Christopher Smith;
two stepchildren, Matthew and Lindsay Cummings; parents, Jim and Diane
Smith; brother, Martin (Kathy) Smith; sisters, Karen Smith and
Marguerite (Anthony) Hicks. He also leaves 6 nieces and nephews, Leia
(Brian) Duty, Dejah Smith, Kionna, Anthony, Adrian and Amaya Hicks and 3
great nephews: Reggie, Jalen and Dylan.
Brian was a graduate of Lawrence North High School, class of 1982. As an
Ivy Tech trained and talented photographer, Brian traveled the United
States capturing images of youth, beauty and inspiration, then later as
a big rig trucker. Brian felt his true calling was to help, care for
and even take on the burdens of those he loved, those he met and even
those far away. Baptized a Catholic, Brian came to believe in God as
the collective Spirit of all men and women, and so, in his passing,
Brian’s spirit remains a part of us all for eternity.
My
brother took pleasure from simple things... fine food &
drink, a quality cigar, snuggling with the kitties or good game
of chess... to name a few. Our habit was to watch
every Pacer & Colts game together with our sister Karen, often
with munchies by "Chef Bumby". Things like improvised
nachos were served with the flair & panache of a waiter in a 5
star bistro. His taste in music was eclectic, ranging from
Jewel to Metallica to Supertramp to Iron Butterfly.
A celebration of Brian’s life was held at St. Lawrence Church in
Indianapolis followed by lunch at the church for family and friends.
Final arrangements were handled by
Robert D.
Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, Anderson, Indiana.
