Skagit Valley Tulip Festival
- Washington State, USA tourism site. Held in April, would be kinda
fun to attend the festival. The site gives you access to bulb growers &
other businesses from the area north of Seattle.
VRLondon Daffodils in Regents Park
- Wonderful, 360 degree, "virtual reality" views
of several places of interest in London. The link shows you an area
planted with daffodils but there are several other locations listed for
clicking to the right of the main photo.
Bloms Bulbs
- A 140 year old, family owned and run company with offices in Holland, the
UK and the US. The site is "no frills" but easy to shop and also
showcases their display
gardens.
bloomingbulb.com- An online only bulb and perennial retailer with a
great selection. A bit
hard to browse the "catalogue" but works fine if you know what you
want.
Blue Mountain Gardens
- Quoting the site; "Blue Mountain Gardens is a wholesale/retail cut
flower and bulb enterprise based in the south of the South Island of New
Zealand." The site is little more than a price list and ordering is
done by printed/internet form. They do sell to the US but require a fairly
large order.
Brecks
- Old company offering tulips "Direct from Holland"... large
variety and several great bulb collections. I have order from them on the
way and will put photos and results on the Tulips
page.
Broadleigh
Bulbs - "European mail-order
specialists in small bulbs and herbaceous plants", the site says they
can only ship "plants" to the
European Union and not to US, does that
include bulbs or just herbaceous plants? If we can't buy from them,
the information and photos
on the site are still helpful but why is the page header sized for 800x600
and the page body wider so one must use the scroll bar to see everything?
COLORBLENDS
- Site of Schipper and Company USA, a third-generation family business that
sells blends of different colors and types of bulbs timed to bloom
simultaneously.
DirectGardening.com - Offers quality plants at great prices,
I've done business with them a couple of times. The pages are arranged by
plant categories, narrow format for smaller window views and the selection
of tulips is excellent.
Dutch Bulbs by Van Bourgondien
- Another multi-generation family business selling by catalog and internet.
They offer a large variety of bulbs and perennials through an integrated
"shopping cart". The
Bulb Lady and Garden
Guide also offer excellent information.
dutchflowers.com - Geerlings Bulbs USA
- With offices in Babylon, New York and the family farm "located
along the majestic west coast of the Netherlands", the site allows
easy online shopping by search or grouped by variety.
Dutch Gardens
- A good, straightforward retail site, allowing for shopping by several
paths including a "plant
finder". Their US address is in Burlington,
Vermont and the staff in Holland "works with more than 40 of
Holland's top bulb growers" (quoting the site).
Fentongollan
Farm - Farmed by the Hosking
family since 1883, this farm in in Cornwall, UK offers bulbs and cut flowers
through the web site. The ordering pages wouldn't load so we may not
be able to shop from the US.
Growingtulips
- Outstanding site, frames but surprisingly easy to navigate,
offering a huge assortment of bulbs plus cut tulips shipped from The
Netherlands to the US... they sell wooden shoes too!!!
HFC Flower Bulbs
- An internet only retailer based in Amsterdam offering a small but
excellent selection, one price fits all. Unfortunately, they don't offer
true online ordering and I couldn't get the order form page to load.
hoog & dix bloembollen
- An exporter/wholesaler of classic, rare and unusual bulbs. The site is
rather plain with a descriptive catalogue of technical information but they
do provide a list of websites where their bulbs can be purchased by the
"Private gardeners".
Loek van Eeden
Exclusive Tulips - "a small
company specialized in promoting newly developed tulip variants." This
company only sells cut tulips at auction so the site is for information and
promotion only. I've included the site on this page for the gallery
of photos showcasing the tulips they offer.
Michigan
Bulb
- Just made my first purchase from these folks, I'll feature the planting
process and spring results on the Tulips page of Feline Gardens. Delivery
was timely, the bulbs huge and great condition.
Odyssey Bulbs- The site is simplistic and mostly text but this Berrien
Springs, Michigan company does offer a extensive variety of bulbs
including some rather exotic varieties. The catalog provides origin and
culture information for most of the offerings but no online ordering, so
print the order form and mail.
Tulips.Com
- The retail division of the Washington Bulb Company in Mount
Vernon, Washington (see Skagit Valley Tulip Festival above). The site
works smoothly and they have a large selection but why make the page width
just slightly larger than a 800x600 resolution screen?
TulipWorld Holland
- Smooth, classy site of an online only bulb retailer based in Amsterdam,
The Netherlands with a US office in Chadds
Ford, Pennsylvania. Easy to shop, the site is also great reference
material including an "Inspire
Me" section.
Vanveen bulbs
- Simple site of a Portland, Oregon
company, offering a reasonable selection through a "store front"
package that does NOT allow you to return directly to home page. They
exhibit at several garden
shows in the northwest.
Windmill Gardens
- A "rentable" garden for special events and weddings in Sumner,
Washington and they sell bulbs too, one of the DeGoede family gardens.
The site is a bit crowded, locked into frames but the bulb selection is
nice, though you have to print an order form (Adobe
Acrobat) and mail to buy.
