CR girls upend Seaford, Delaware

DOWNSTATE - Micki Younger poured in 23 points to power Caesar Rodney High to a 57-52 upset of Seaford Tuesday night in Henlopen Conference Northern Division girls' basketball.

Younger added five blocked shots and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Riders.

"Micki had a monster game for us tonight," Caesar Rodney coach Bill Victory said. "The girls rallied and we earned a big win."

Seaford led 34-26 at halftime but Caesar Rodney's defense held the Blue Jays to just 18 second-half points. Caesar Rodney improved to 2-1 while Seaford fell to 3-1.

Roneice Brittingham tossed in 19 points to lead Seaford.

 

Dover 56, Indian River 33: Pabnesia Zachery scored 13 points to spark the Senators' victory. Three other players netted eight points for Dover, which opened up a 27-16 halftime lead.

Sierra Garrison had 12 points and Raven Robinson added 10 for the Indians.

 

Laurel 47, Woodbridge 33: Ashley Bennett scored 13 points while Cierra Bolden added 10 points to lead Laurel (1-1, 2-1).

Woodbridge (0-3) was led by Tindra Felix, who tossed in 13 points. Alexis Cannon added 11 points for the Blue Raiders.

 

Polytech 65, Sussex Central 38: Kim Rowley poured in 23 points while Tyresa Smith added 15 to power Polytech (2-1) over Sussex Central (0-2). Nikki Hayes added 11 points for the Panthers.

Kim Shockley scored 10 points to lead Sussex Central.

 

Smyrna 57, Lake Forest 26: Cheri Bryant scored a game-high 21 points while Katie Powell added 11 and Samantha Snow tossed in 10 to lead Smyrna over Lake Forest.

Jenna Sach scored seven points to lead Lake Forest.
