FORT LAUDERDALE

Ft. Lauderdale

Our Ultimate Caribbean cruise on Celebrity Millennium began in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Celebrity has shore excursions in Fort Lauderdale that could be taken before or after the cruise. We decided not to take any of these tours, but included them here for your planning purposes. Our post cruise tour was Disney World in Orlando. Read about our stay in Orlando or continue with our cruise.

We arrived at the Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport around noon and were met by representatives of Celebrity Cruise Line who directed us to waiting buses. By the time we got to the pier, boarding had already begun so we completed the embarkation process, had our picture taken, and went onboard. We were escorted to cabin 8075, a premium ocean-view stateroom with a veranda on the Panorama deck.

This was our second cruise on the Millennium. We sailed on a Transatlantic cruise in November, 2000 in her inagural season. Therefore, we already were familiar with the ship's layout. The first order of business was to make our appointments in the Nautica Spa. After that, it was time to get our welcome drink and some food.

After the obligatory Coast Guard safety drill, we sailed for our first port, Key West, Florida. Continue with our first port or check out the other Ports of Call by visiting the websites listed on the Ultimate Caribbean - start page or Celebrity's website. If you prefer, choose a page from the drop down list above.

My wife and I took plenty of pictures as usual. I used my Sony digital PC100 which takes both video and still pictures. My wife used a pocket 35mm zoom camera. I'll be posting pictures in photo albums as soon as I get time to download the pictures and get the 35mm file developed and scanned. So make sure to check back often for updates.
