Subject: RealityWe see things. We hear things. We taste, smell, and feels things. We think things. We remember, fear, and hope things. Our reality is mental - a mental picture, sometimes good, sometimes not. Is it the truth? Often not. Mary Baker Eddy saw beyond this picture of what she termed mortal mind. She realized that all creation is spiritual. Read some of what she said: "All reality is in God and His creation, harmonious and eternal. That which He creates is good, and He makes all that is made. Therefore the only reality of sin, sickness, or death is the awful fact that unrealities seem real to human, erring belief, until God strips off their disguise. They are not true, because they are not of God. We learn in Christian Science that all inharmony of mortal mind or body is illusion, possessing neither reality nor identity though seeming to be real and identical." S&H* p. 472 "God is infinite, therefore ever present, and there is no other power nor presence. Hence the spirituality of the universe is the only fact of creation." S&H* p. 471 The correct view of reality is very important each of us. It brings our thinking into line with active, ever-present God, who is our only reality. Having this view heals: "It is unwise to doubt if reality is in perfect harmony with God, divine Principle, --if Science, when understood and demonstrated, will destroy all discord,--since you admit that God is omnipotent; for from this premise it follows that good and its sweet concords have all-power." S&H* p.130 In this light, we can understand statements of the nature of reality from the Bible. "The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof." Ps. 97:1 "The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord;" Ps.145:9 -fcr |
