Yipee!! We're finally back! Hope your Holiday weekend was good. Time to get to
the range and prepare for the high-caliber, pressure-packed matches that are a
trademark of the CSCGL on the finely groomed PGA Tour quality Indian Spring
Golf Course. ;-)
IMPORTANT NOTE: (2001/05/07) Unfortunately, Indian Spring Golf Course has scheduled Golf Outings for the next 2 Mondays, May 14th and May 21st. Since these are Shotgun Starts that begin at 1PM, the course will not be available until 6pm at the earliest. So we have decided not to try and squeeze in any official CSCGL Rounds over these 2 weeks. And since the following Monday is Memorial Day, we will not meet again until Monday, June 4th.
We will resume competition with Week 5 of the First Half, which will be played on
Monday, June 4th. The rest of the 1st half
will be pushed back and completed, barring any Rainouts, on Monday, June 25th.
The Results, Low Net and
Standings pages for the fourth week of play have been
posted.
The schedule
for Monday, May 7, 2001 has been posted. It's a Full Moon, so expect the Strange
and Unusual, which should be nothing different than any other League night! ;-)
The Results, Low Net and
Standings pages for the third week of play have been
posted.
After further discussion, we have decided for the time being to compute the Womens Handicap using the same Course Rating as the Mens. That means, that if a Man and Women shoot the same score, their handicap will be the same. This seems to be a good and equitable way of handling the handicap differences.
Based on these additional changes, here are the handicap corrections for Week 3:
The schedule for Monday, April 30, 2001 has been posted.
FYI: We have discovered a discrepancy concerning how the handicaps are applied for women. Since the course rating at Indian Spring is different for Women and Men, we use the appropriate rating for a man or women golfer in computing their respective handicap. Since the women's course rating is higher than the men's (35.5 to 34), the women are at a disadvantage. We realize that the course is a little shorter for women, but this doesn't appear to make up for the difference. We did some Research on handicapping at the USGA site http://www.usga.org/ and found something interesting. If you go to http://www.usga.org/handicap/faq/7.html, this explains what you are supposed to do when players play from different tees. You need to make a correction based on the difference in Course Rating. The difference at ISGC between the Men's and Women's Rating is 1.5, which rounds to 2. Since the CSCGL is mainly based on the White Course Rating, we need to add 2 strokes to the handicap of women in the league. This change will be incorporated starting with Week 3 of play, so every handicap listed on the CSCGL Webpage for women will be their Course Handicap (already adjusted). If you have any questions or comments about this, please email us at cscgolf@home.com.
Based on these changes, here are the handicap corrections for Week 3:
The Results, Low Net and Standings pages for the second week of play are available. (2001/04/23)
The schedule for Monday, April 23, 2001 has been posted.
Corrections to handicaps on
the Revised scheduled emailed: NOTE: There was a problem with handicaps listed on the schedule sheet to the ones used to process the results for Monday night's action. This only affected certain returning players. Only one match was affected by this error and it has since be corrected. The handicaps on the schedule posted on the webpage for week 2 are now correct and I will be posting a page that will list current handicaps for all active player in the league.
The Results, Low Net and Standings pages for Initial week of the 2001 Season have been posted to the webpage. (2001/04/16)
The schedule for the first week of play, this Monday, April 16, 2001 has been posted. Click here for a Handicap Lookup sheet to make it easier to compute the handicaps of new members. (2001/04/11)
