Andrea Sehmel

This is our wife and mother. This is she who makes it all come together. This is the woman who puts up with the chaotic nature of Chris's whims, passions, and endless wants, and who gives Luke, John (and Daddy) the love, tenderness, caring and boo-boo kissing when we fall down.
Andrea is a wonderful woman, with a spirit so deep and intense that it took me 37 years to find one like her. She'll deny it. She thinks of herself as a weenie. She's not though, she's very brave, and yet kind. Too kind. She doesn't like it when I pour salt on slugs. She is tough enough to keep me and the boys in line, and tender enough that I frequently have to play the bad guy in order to get the boys to do what I want. That is to say she would spoil them silly if I didn't barge in and deny them her endless love and tenderness. Which sucks, because I really HATE being the bad guy. She's an angel.
I'm constantly amazed at what she does with and for our children. I'll come home and she has them finger painting, or creating marvelous things out of paper and scissors, or running naked out by the pool, or patiently sitting, watching them play in the sandbox. What a neat Mommy.
She tells people she's a closet liberal, so as not to offend me. I don't have a problem with that...She's Canadian...so she can't vote here in the States!!!

Andrea is a roving adventurer at heart, and has spent a large portion of her life wandering the globe seeking adventure and fortune. She loves Turkey, and all things Turkish having lived there in a past life in the '80's.

Her career as a RN has taken her from remote native villages at the top of Hudson's Bay to Life-Flights in and out of Venezuela. She has cared for the sick and infirm from Texas to Saudi Arabia, and when I say care, that is absolutely the word I mean. She is the most caring individual I have ever known. It is one reason I love her so.

Before coming to me here she lived in British Columbia, Alberta, Wisconsin, Manitoba, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Texas and Florida! She's seen a lot of the world, and I feel very, very lucky that I have been able to lasso this shooting star!

She is endlessly kind, and I have to get after her often about bringing home more animals. We now have four dogs and two cats. I'd like one of each. If your dog ever disappears, check with us, I'm sure she's brought it home as a "stray". She has been known to stop and pine about "Stray" dogs, urgently wishing to save them, despite their wearing collars and peering out from some old woman's window. If your dog is in your yard, watch out, she's worse than the dog catcher! I am sure one of these days she's going to take the kids to the zoo, and come home with a giraffe, a hippo, and several gazelles, "because they were strays"!

My wife. I love her more than I could ever enumerate. I love her more than the stars...
I just wish she liked pickles...and Blue Öyster Cult...
