THEY MAY HAVE BEEN "UGLY" BUT THEY SURE HELPED WIN A WAR
WW II Losses
During World War II, two hundred twenty-nine Liberty ships were lost. Most of these losses were due to enemy action. The below listed ships [Which includes Liberty and other merchant vessels ]damaged during the war and which were declared a constructive total loss before war's end and are considered wartime casualties, even if they physically survived beyond VE or VJ day and were scrapped later. A ship is considered a constructive total loss when she physically survives a disaster but would cost more than she is worth, or insured for, to put back into service.

Reading the 'ship history' will so inform you of 'what the ship was involved in', where the precise location of the damage or sinking took place, and details of actually what happened on that particular day.

"Are you looking for one of the many 'Merchant Ships' [Other than a Liberty ship] that went down? I've started to insert these "Other Merchant vessels" in the below listing. I do accept request for losses of Liberty ship as well as Merchant ship histories. Some entries will contain limited amount of convoy info [the histories are more pointed at the vessels sinking specifics rather than entire ship life history, a picture [if available], as well as crew info [again, if available].
Also available on request are Liberty ship pictures, not all Libery ship pictures are available, but what has been compiled will be offered from other sources.
Just submit a request via e-mail to the below address for histories or pictures and you will receive a reply within a reasonable time frame.
