Nanke's Famous Pecan Pie Recipe

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup sugar

1 cup dark Karo syrup

3 eggs

1 cup pecan meats broken

1 tsp. vanilla

Preparation:
  Cream the butter and sugar. Then add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Bake a standard pie shell for 10 min. at 475 degrees. Then pour into it the nut mixture and continue baking at 350 degrees for another 45 minutes.

  Cool. Top with whipped cream just before serving.

Standard pie shell:

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups of flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup shortening (butter)

3 or 4 tablespoons cold water

Preparation:
  Mix the flour and salt and blend in the shortening or butter. Add water slowly while continuing to mix until you can form a ball of the pastry. Roll out the dough and then fit it into your pan, adjusting the edges as needed.
