Melt and the cool 1/4 lb. butter with 3 squares of baking chocolate. Add 2 beaten eggs, some salt (to taste), 1 cup of sugar, and 2/3 cup of flour. Mix these ingredients well and add about 1/2 cup of nuts and some vanilla (a teaspoon or less). Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or less. Works well in an 8-inch square pan. When the brownies have cooled, spread with frosting. Melt and cool 1 1/2 sq chocolate and 1/8 lb butter (one pat). Gradually add 2 cups powdered sugar, a little cream (or regular milk) and vanilla (a splash or two). Mix until glossy and spread on the cool brownies. This frosting is very sweet, so you may wish to try it with less sugar. |
