A Little Bit of Poetry

Kitty

Once Maxine jumped high,
Higher than the high bar stool,
And all applauded, seriously.

Once she stood entangled,
So entangled in Mom's red wool yarn
That all applauded, naturally.

Then she dared the next-door dog,
A naturally serious heavy-weight hound,
So all scrambled, forget-the-applause.

Nowadays she oversees all the world,
From a cosy-cute window seat,
Acknowledging our sometimes applause, regally.

Useless reverie

With a flip of its rice-paper wings
the black butterfly travels across the yard,
And a golden one follows in random
      spurts,
     pausing for breath and
      perspective ?
Do we chase one another so,
      innocent of intent, curious

To be so beautiful...

But if life were butterfly-short,
would wonder, pleasure be our only
      reaction, goal...
Even artful human butterflies
      confront doubt ?
      Yes?
Surviving long enough
      to enjoy moments of

      no

      beauty...

Three
If you dare to see a day with light so special
you can do no more but immerse
      yourself in the sky,

Welcome that day of freedom and inner jubilation
      though no one else share
      the sensation or cerebrate
      dreamily with you.

.4.

Opinion allowed

Among the clouds

Never aloud

And never atoned

As how in hallowed

Grounded in crowds

Religiously avowed

Nothing is owned

up.

Play dough

Required investments
Recorded in viridian
Minutes returned invitingly
Minus rude raiments
Uninspired, quotidian
Verified reassuringly
In digitally viole(n)t payments.

A poem I wrote more than 30 years ago:

A Diamond's brilliance outshines all nature's handiwork,
But its luster veils an adamantine coldness.
A
Pearl's warmth is of a more gentle nature;
Its inner glow suggests a depth of beauty.
So glittering
Pride provides a beauteous cover
That hides its truth for those who look not deeply.
But
Love is marked by noble modesty
That, like the pearl, is more than merely obvious.
