Here are some photos of Glenn Sokolofsky's Car 54 replica. He recently put
it on display for the
first time at the 3rd Annual New York City Police Museum's Antique Police
Car Show held
on June 7th, 2003. Hank Garrett, otherwise known to fans as Patrolman Ed
Nicholson,
was also at the show. It's a 1961 Plymouth, beautifully restored as Car
54!
Trivia Note: In 1961, the base model of the Plymouth was the Savoy,
which was actually
used by the NYPD. The model next up was the Belvedere, which was used on
the show.
The top of the line was the Fury, which is shown below. The only differences
in these
models was some interior trim and certain body mouldings. Also, 1961 was
the first year
the NYPD began putting shield decals on the doors of their patrol fleet.
Thanks Glenn for your contribution!
