Band History

Seire formed in early 2003 when former school mates, guitarist/vocalist Anton Woods, 19 at the time, and drummer Desmond Vasco, 20, put out a two song demo they called Sounds of Ragnarok under the name Fenrir. As a two-piece Anton doubled on bass for the low budget recording, which generated little buzz in the underground black metal scene. Four months passed before they released their second demo marked with just the name Seire. Within a week bassist Manus King contacted the group, and still in high school became the bands youngest member at 17 years old.

Now as a trio, the band booked their first gig on January 8th 2004. They headlined their own show with two other bands that had never preformed; as such the turn out was less then enthusiastic. They recruited guitarist Aleister VonYates and embarked on a mini tour down the West Coast. During their tour they were signed to Moonfog Productions and upon finishing the tour they immediately went to studio and recorded their first E.P. reusing the title “Sounds of Ragnarok”. The E.P. immediately shot to the top in the European nations and after a failed U.S. tour they relocated to Desmond’s home nation of Norway. By mid 2004 they had quickly grown to one of the most famous bands in the country.

In October the band departed on their first international tour through the countries of northern Europe opening for such well known Black Metal acts as Satyricon, Immortal, and Venom. Even as just the opening acts for these shows the exposure was incredible and the tour was a hug success. Their fan based grew greatly and by popular demand they returned to the studio in April of 2005. Unlike their E.P., which was recorded relatively quickly, the recording of their album was going to take much longer. The band spent more then 6 months in the studio just writing different riffs and discussing different concepts that could be used for the album, after the 8th month passed in January of 2006 the band decided to escape from the studio and embarked on another European tour this time as headliner, the response was phenomenal and almost every night of the tour they played to a sold out audience. The tour came to a close in April and the band returned to the studio. Working much faster this time the band quickly pieced together several songs for the album. The band worked exclusively on the new album until the summer when they took another break to do a stint of festival shows where they debuted several of the new songs with great success.

By the end of the year recording for the album had finally finished and on the 21st of December it was finally released. The album debuted at the top of the charts all over Europe and stayed there for several weeks consecutively, staying at the top the longest in Norway for an astounding 12 consecutive weeks, and earned them a Spellemannspris Award for the Metal category. The band remained relatively dormant until the summer when it was announced that the band would be headlining several festivals in 2007 and was announced to be headlining one of the stages at the famed Wacken Open Air metal festival. Following the festival appearances they finished out the year with several small intimate club shows while they began writing new material. In early 2008 they announced a large European headlining stadium tour where they will be playing their new material for the first time. It was also announced that they had plans to release their new album in late October.
