This was actually my first Marvel Legends custom.  I definitely encountered the learning curve with him.  I used a Marvel Legends Mister Fantastic figure as the base.  He seemed harmless enough, but I actually ended up scrapping the first attempt.   The joints on my first figure were scraping paint like it was going out of style.  I used Milliput to make his gloves and leg bands.  His utility belt came from an 5" TB Beast figure, the boots came from a 5" TB Magik figure, and his ponytail came from an 5" TB Omega Red figure.  Finally, I used some vinyl detailing tape to make his mechanical leg.  The stuff is great.  You can cut it to size and super glue it in place.  Far easier than trying to sculpt the detail yourself.
