KIWANIS DIVISION 3 COUNCIL
MINUTES OF APRIL 8, 2002 MEETING
Meeting called to order by Lt.
Governor Ben Fuller.
Roll call: Present - Capital City (8), Greensboro (2), Killearn (5), Lake Jackson (2), Madison (3), Monticello (2), Northside (5), Perry (1), Quincy (2), Tallahassee (1). Absent - Havana.
Capital City, Killearn and Northside qualified for an Interclub visit.
Taylor Bethea was introduced as a guest of Northside.
Minutes of the prior meeting were accepted as presented on the Division 3 web site.
The treasurer’s report was presented showing an administrative account balance of $658.00 and a Service account balance of $1197.77.
The Scholarship House work project was reviewed and the members were reminded of the need for gifts to the District Foundation.
A Motion was made and seconded to elect Early Harris, Northside Kiwanis Club, as Lt. Governor Designate for 2002-2003.
Motion Adopted by acclimation.
A Motion was made and seconded to
elect Jim Wylie, Capital City Kiwanis Club, as Lt. Governor Elect for 2003-2004.
A Motion was made to approve the
proposed amendment to the Division 3 by-laws introduced at the last meeting.
Motion adopted.
Article XVI, Section 1 of the Division
3 by-laws now reads:
“This Council shall hold a regular
meeting on the second Monday of the first month of each quarter.”
The next meeting will be on Monday, July 8, 2002.
Lt. Governor Fuller reviewed the plans for the Governors visit April 22-23.
The Division 3 “Nesting Room” projects were discussed due to the increased cost to $25000 over a two-year period. Alternatives suggested included Big Brothers and Sisters, +mentoring program scholarships, Caring Corner, Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, Second Harvest, Echo and Make a Wish.
A Motion was made to drop the Nesting
Room Project.
Motion Adopted.
Club membership increase and decreases were reported by all clubs present
The Club Leadership Education for incoming officers will be conducted on Saturday, June 1, 2002 at the FSU University Center. The President, Secretary and Treasurer fron each club are urged to attend, even if you have attended one in a prior year.
