Meeting Minutes
January 21, 2002
The Meeting was called to order by Lt. Governor Ben Fuller.
FSU Circle K leaders Michelle Lachance and Harrison Arencibian were introduced. They each gave a report on their local activities.
Division 3 Roll Call: Present, Capital City, Havana, Killearn, Lake Jackson, Madison, Northside, Perry, Quincy and Tallahassee. Absent, Greensboro and Monticello.
Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as provided on the Kiwanis web site.

Reports were given on the following
programs: “Young Children-Priority One” and
Childrens Fund, Sponsored Programs:
Key Clubs, Leon, Chiles, Lincoln, McClay and Florida High and FSU Circle
K are functioning, assistance is needed with other clubs.
The Scholarship House Banquet is
February 2. Members in attendance contributed $120 to offset some
of the costs of our student residents participation.
The Governors visit will be April 22-23 and will be a quick visit. Capital City Club will hold a luncheon that Monday. (60 limit).
Earl Cushing will speak at your club meetings when requested, about the District Foundation and its funding projects. Dollars are provided for youth clubs, Circle K and Key Clubs and other projects. Division 3 has received about $20000 the past three years, more than we have contributed. Please make contributions to the Foundation.
Nominations for 2003-2004 Lt. Governor will be made at the April 8 Division 3 meeting.
A detailed report about the Mid-year
Conference in Orlando was presented.
An extended discussion was conducted
regarding the location, fees and scheduling.
A Motion was adopted that Kiwanis
return to the Zone Conferences as in the past,
and the Division 3 leaders bring
these concerns to the Florida District at the Conference.
On Saturday, June 1, Club Leadership Training will be held for Club Presidents, Secretaries and Treasurers. The sessions will be held at the University Club Center. All officers are encouraged to attend.
Lt. Governor Ben Fuller reviewed the Division 3 Club of the Year Award and the criterion for earning the Club of the year patch: Membership Growth and overall service activity.
Club Reports
Monticello: (by Fuller) Provided Christmas Gifts, Annual Membership luncheon had 18 prospective members in attendance. Member David Ward was honored as Kiwanian of the Year.
Capital City: Held two ECHO food drives, will conduct the Regional Track and Field Meet April 16 and we have more note cards available.
Havana: Food baskets distributed, conducted a party for Havana Elementary School children in need, Golf tournament successful, raised money for the library and had a chicken fry.
Killearn: May 6 is the annual Golf Tournament, please have your club send a four person team, distributed Thanksgiving baskets, worked the Tree Of Rememberance for Hospice, Salvation Army Bell Ringers, provided for three families through the Christmas Connection, Rock ‘n read with Head Start children, Clothing and support for TMH Nesting Room, Refuge House Clothing, 100% Interclub member participation last year, two new Hixson recipients, aKtion Club and Chiles Key Club participation
Lake Jackson: Citrus sale, Pancake Breakfast fundraiser, Lighthouse Home breakfast and gifts, $500 gift for Scholarship House remodeling, two, new Hixson Awards and $550 for IDD.
Madison: Good Christmas fruit sale, Christmas party, Girls Academy gifts, Mentor program with seven college scholarships sponsored, this program begins in the second grade and continues through high school graduation, nesting room.
Northside: 1100 boxes of oranges sold , Salvation Army Bell Ringers, Lighthouse Home gifts.
Perry: Unique Radio Auction raised $4500, Primary School reading program, Christmas gifts for family with six children.
Quincy: School Christmas party for 120 kindergarten and first grade children, 425 boxes of Christmas fruit sold, Golf tournament April 8, Key Club work.
Tallahassee: $5000 raised at Christmas auction, provides for childrens shopping, coordinated a clothing drive through the public schools, Immunization program for pre-school children, April 1 Golf tournament planned.
A Motion was adopted authorizing a vote at the April 8 Division 3 Council meeting to provide that District 3 Council meetings be held on the second Monday of the quarterly meeting months. (Official announcement and amendment language sent to Clubs and Leaders by Lt. Governor Ben Fuller January 22, 2002.)
Lt. Governor Ben Fuller explained the significant changes in Tallahassee Memorial Hospital ‘Nesting Room’ contribution guidelines and the major fiscal impact on our Division 3 fundraising programs. He will keep Clubs informed of progress.
