PLEASE CHECK with the Division Executives to see if your club has paid their part!!!

Lt. Gov. Brenda S. stated:

Kiwanis College – We had 20 members in attendance from our Division 3 in Lake City

Brenda asked for input on the Kiwanis College: Favorable comments about the Kiwanis College were given by Madison Club and the Lake Jackson Club. One of the strongest things developed by the drive to Lake City for the education is the relationships between the club members that travel together to the event. One new member from the Killearn Club really got a better feel for what Kiwanis is all about by attending the college. Gavin added that he and Bill Hopkins enjoyed getting to know more about each other as well as learning about club PR and K-kids Club building.

Governor Donna Batelaan’s Visit to Division 3

Special thanks to Jim, John, and Katherine for attending the Legislature honoring our Governor of Kiwanis

Charles Escher from the Killearn Club attended the Governor’s visit in Monticello, and after talking to the Governor he decided to make a toy train with the spelling of the theme: Together We Can . Lt. Gov. Brenda recommends sending in this story to be published in the Florida Kiwanian.

Motion from the floor: To pay $185.15 for the Governor’s hotel room for the Governors visit to the Opera House in Monticello.

Jim Wylie 2nd Rick Beyer motion accepted and passed.

Funds will be transferred to pay this bill.

April 22-29th is the Child Immunization week – Northside Immunization and the Tallahassee Club will be doing ID cards for children with the Police Dept. on the 29th of April at the Governor Square Mall .

Diaper Drive

Jere Moore from the Northside Club announced specifics about Diaper Drive. The

Healthy Start program together will the Northside Club will be ready for shipment of diapers coming from Wal-mart in June and they will be putting immunization stickers on the diapers for educating those to whom these will be distributed. Each club will be assigned 2 to 3 agencies. Your club will have to find out how many diapers they will need. You may solicit other organizations to assist in the efforts if you so desire and / or the Northside Club will assign you corporations to call on for assistance. Last year Healthy Start coordinated the organizational effort for donations. The Northside Club will organize the logistics for soliciting corporate aid.

Example: 1.Capital City Club is assigned to Healthy Start Leon Co. and Anderson Chapel A&E Church

*Albertsons has given us good prices on diapers in the past for buying in bulk.

March of Dimes is the Governor’s Project and we sold pins at the Governor’s visit

April 22nd, 2006- Lt. Gov. Challenged each club to donate something to the effort. It should be earmarked from the Kiwanis Club from Division 3

The Tallahassee Club will be matching the individual club contributions from their foundation

The Killearn Club is sponsoring a spirit station for the March of Dimes –Donating $250

The Walk in Tallahassee is in the Cascade Park but the drive for funds can go through September.

There is a March of Dimes fundraising office in town to get help with fundraising efforts.

Please contact Nancy Shank with contributions

Membership

There have been 14 new members, but the loss of 22 members across Division 3. Membership loss seems to go hand and hand with the enthusiasm of the club president and the Lt. Governor, the Lt. Governor stated. There has to be a strong push from both executives to help stimulate growth.

Lt. Gov. Brenda Sorenson announced Monticello Club member Gavin Boone (Division 3 Secretary) is transferring to the Killearn Club for 7am Thursday morning meetings to adjust for work schedule changes.

The Killearn Club’s Al Eppinger questions the bill from International that is supposed to be based on membership count. Brenda S. suggests finding an International contact to discuss the situation to avoid any penalty. It seems to be a 4 member difference. Please document and check your roster to insure proper dues are paid.

501 C3 status please check on this and ask Brenda if you have questions.

Elections are to take 1 st week in April to the last week in May and results should be documented and reported to Jo Willis as soon as possible to prep for June 3rd CLE training at Faith Presbytarian in Tallahassee.

The grant program comes from the Florida Foundation.

Havana was awarded a $3,000 grant to the youth section of the library

These grants are for capital expenditures and are most commonly awarded to groups that are looking for a dollar for dollar match from the club or solicited by the club. Larry Spalding is on the committee and is eager to help.

People really don’t tap into the International Foundation Grants very often. This is an opportunity for the Division.

Nancy Shank recommends that there should be a more formalized notification of club bills with a list of separate accounts that are available for donations or dues. Jim Wylie said that there is a sheet of paper with all of the suggested and required fees. Gavin Boone recommended that this paper should be made visible somewhere to all of the members each club on a regular basis to help hold the treasurer and president of each club accountable for paying for these on time. No motion was made to initiate any action so responsibility is place solely on the president of each club to be responsible for making sure the dues are paid and the club is motivation to vote to contribute to the optional contributions.

Sponsor Youth Programs

Rooms are being sold for $65 a night for the program two weeks from now for the Key Club convention at the Rosen Center in Orlando. They have not sold all of the rooms for the event . 13 clubs and there were 6 clubs at the relay for life. Floridataz0322@comcast.net- Heather Ditter Sponsored Youth Person Director – Assistant Adminstrator. They need $30,000 to help with the Key Club Convention.
