First Gentleman’s Project
Jennifer Bittern (Nancy Shank’s Guest) was the March of Dimes representative. They work to save babies 1930 polio and in 1950 there was reinvention for childhood illness and neonatal units. The goal is to drop the rate of premature infants and the problems that go along with that. March of Dimes is a research organization supplying millions of dollars for research for solving these problems. Jennifer wants Kiwanis to think about working together across the Big Bend including the KEY clubs. Team captain packets for the club are most important for communications with March of Dimes organization. The ambassador is the special person that our club walks and works for during the campaign. Consider selecting one to motive your group. They do a shirt and sign for the club ambassadors. Marshall Atkins, brother of a Kiwanian, designed the T-Shirt this year. Feb 7th, 2006 is the official kickoff of the campaign. The team leader needs to come to their kickoff meeting. There is an online fundraising site. The Leon Co. walk is in the spring and the Madison Co., Taylor Co. walks are in the fall. Get the specifics at the kickoff luncheon at Carrabba’s in Tallahassee. The clubs can do any number of things to raise money for the campaign: donations for the booties, your own March of Dime fundraiser, sell beanie babies, chocolate, etc. Spirit stations are several organizations to man the water stations to provide spirit and refreshment for those out walking for the cause.
