WHAT WE
DO WITH
THE MONEY WE RAISE
The money we raise from the
tournament
helps us do a lot of good things in the community. Some examples of our
past projects which involve funds and manpower follow:
1. Furnishings for setup of a "Nesting Room" and a "Breast Feeding
Room"
for the Newborn Intensive Care Unit of TMRMC. Special care packages of
items for parents of newborns.
2. Enhancement of the TMRMC Emergency Medical Service Vehicles for
treatment
of infants and toddlers.
3. Tutoring programs for underprivileged children at Gilchrist and
DeSoto
Trails Elementary Schools.
4. Support of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Salvation Army, Habitat
For Humanity, Ronald
McDonald House, Haven of Rest Rescue Mission, Lighthouse Home,
Children's
Miracle Network Telethon, Boy Scouts, Youth Baseball, Tallahassee Kids
Golf, and others.
5. Thanksgiving and Christmas food for the needy.
6. Support for Gretchen Everhart School for Exceptional Students.
Holiday
parties, computer software and media center equipment, sidewalks,
shrubbery
and grounds maintenance. Manpower assistance for special events. And in
2006 a $15,000 playground upgrade with the assistance of grants
from the Florida Kiwanis Foundation and Kiwanis International
Foundation.
7. Support for TMRMC Pediatrics Ward and Special Care Unit. VCR, tapes,
rocking chairs, recliners, clothing, camera, and other items.
8. Sponsorship of the Lawton
Chiles High School Key Club.
9. Contributions to the FSU
Ralph
Davis Kiwanis Scholarship House Manitenance and Expansion fund.
10. Funds for numerous deserving students for trips to conventions,
foreign
countries, and educational meetings.
11. Sponsorship of the aKtion Club of
Tallahassee
- LARC, a service club of handicapped individuals.
12. Support the Tallahassee Area Diaper
Drop, providing diapers for needy area families.
Additional projects or expanded funding will be
added
as funds allow. Even though our Young Children - Priority One projects
are aimed at children, pre-natal to age 5; we provide community service
for all ages.
