An untitled Dutch miscellany

Written entirely in Low German (Dutch) with Gloss in Latin

Experiments include: Identify the thief who has stolen milk, beer, or wax; to become invisible, to see ‘extraordinary things’; to learn about past or future events; to ease childbirth; to transport oneself rapidly by use of an ointment (made of seven herbs, goat’s fat and bat’s blood); preventing a wife from having intercourse with another man by tracing a circle around her genitals with the tail of a lizard.

Also, cause people to grow dirty while bathing; cause white birds to hatch from the eggs of black birds; to make a newly hatched peacock white; to cause a woman to leap naked from her bath; to cause a dog to dance; to compel a horse to stand still; to hold a serpent in one’s hand without harm; and to cause a horse to collapse as if dead; expel mice and flies by use of magical images. The manuscript gives the fist half of a moon book, explaining the moon’s influence under each zodiacal sign. One experiment, no. 20, calls upon ‘the power and might of these spirits, Beheydraz, Anleyuz, and Manitaynus’ to aid in the magical seduction of a woman.

InCo 15 Identify thief

(Sight, Momentary, Individual, +5 a portion of the stolen cache)

The caster must invision a specific object. If anyone within the caster’s range of vision had at any point "laid dubious claim" upon that item, the caster will feel sudden enmity toward that person.

Ointment of Brisk Travel

This lab text describes the process and provides a +7 lab total for the creation of this ointment. When spread on the feet and thighs, it imbues a ReCo10 effect that alleviates the need for fatigue checks based on lower body movements (running, hiking, etc),a +3 bonus to whole-body fatigue checks (swimming, combat, etc), and no bonus to upper-body fatigue (arm wrestling, etc.). The effects persist for a day. Its ingredients include seven herbs, goat’s fat, and bat’s blood.

ReAn 15 Soothed Steed

(Eye, Sun, Individual)

Offsets the reaction penalties that the targeted equine would have toward a gifted individual. The blatant gift becomes like a normal gift for the duration.

ReAn15 Snake Charm

(Eye, Concentration, Individual)

Causes a serpent to utterly disregard the caster. The caster may hold or manipulate the serpent without causing a reaction. Any form of pain or attack to the target immediately causes the spell to cease.

ReAn30 Equine’s Bane

(Far, Concentration, Individual)

Causes the targeted Equine’s mind to cease, as if dead. The target will collapse. It will not even appear to breath. When concentration stops, the animal will reawaken, unaware of anything that has transpired, but likely be confused or panicked.

Creation of an icon to expel mice and flies

This lab text describes the process and provides a +7 total for the creation of the bane. The symbol is carved into a rodent or cat scull (+6 form bonus). 2 pawns of animal vis are consumed. The effect is Rego Animal 15 and continuous. Rodents and flies will be terrified of the icon and flee the structure at all cost. Outside, the icon provides protection for 100 feet.

ReMe 15 Seduction

(Arcane, Moon, Individual, Ritual)

A carefully prepared magic circle, as described in the spell, alleviates the need for vis. This loosely hermetic spell will cause the target to show love for the caster sexually, emotionally, and intellectually. If cast at a second target, the first is freed.
