 Pictures
from the Napa Valley Dirt Classic- 2002
Pacific
Union College, Angwin CA
Always
an excellent course, this race was the final gasp of the Blue
Stumpjumper FS .
After this event, I spied a crack on the right chainstay and the
frame was retired appropriately.
The
Whoop-de-doo section is always a gas - three swoops down and up
of increasing height. The photos don't really give you an impression
of how far down the bottom really is. The little colored dots
at the mid left of the first photo are actually people, and you
can see a rider heading down. When you come over the crest of
the steepest one, you cannot see the bottom until you are committed.
These
are three other shots which Tracy which were too good to not use.
In the first, a singlespeeder wrenches his way up the last whoop-de-do.
