Backpacking

Washington State offers a wide variety of backpacking opportunities. The Olympic Peninsula has coastal regions, rainforest and the Olympic Mountains. Central Washington boasts the Cascades with trails from Oregon to the Canadian border.

The older I get the more attention I give to the amount of weight to carry, the distance to travel, the altitude to attain and the view when I arrive. There are many hikes, that can be done in a weekend, with both great trails and spectacular scenery.

One of my most memorable moments is waking up on the banks of Goat Lake to a crystal clear morning view of Mount Adams through the door of the tent.
