  I think nutrition is one of the most significant issues in society today. Much of the problem stems from a lack of consumer awareness.

Did you know that if you Supersize a Big MacŪ you consume 75% of your daily allowance of calories and 94% of your daily allowance of fat.

This means that people who routinely eat fast food often consume as much as two days worth of food every day.

We have put together some recipes that taste good and are better for you.

 
     
   
Food Groups  
 

Fats, Oils and Sweets

We need to exercise great care, caution, and restraint when eating foods from this group. Given the amount of fats, oils and sugars present in the other food groups, anyone eating a full-fat or non-diet version of anything in this group is asking for trouble.
 

Dairy / Meat, Eggs, Beans, Nuts

For many Americans the foods that we grew up eating plenty of are right here. Being more selective and eating less in this group is important.
 
 

Fruits and Vegetables

Studies indicate that the average American doesn't eat enough of these. Things would go a lot smoother if we did. We should try harder.
 
Bread, Cereal, Rice and Pasta
We often overlook many important aspects of this group. The serving size is small. For example, a sandwich contains two servings of bread. We often prefer white bread, white rice and white pasta. These have less fiber leaving us hungry sooner than we expected, among other things.
