DAYS OF GLORY
By Dale Talkington and Pauletta Hart Wilson
DAYS OF GLORY is a high quality book about the Anadarko area that should be of extreme interest to you and your entire family....IF you lived there from 1932 to 1991 and beyond. It contains more than 1,220 pages of wonderful Anadarko memories.
There are 5,815 newspaper clippings from The Anadarko Daily News dated from 1932 up to 1991.
This project started out as only a few selected newspaper clippings to celebrate the 50th Anniversary Reunion of the Class of 1951 on Saturday, August 4, 2001.
It quickly grew into a gigantic collection of personal news stories about Anadarko and neighboring towns during this 58-year time period.
Included in DAYS OF GLORY are stories listing every Anadarko High School graduate for the following years: 1922, 1940, 1941, 1942, 1943, 1944, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952 and 1979. This fascinating information is not available in any other single place.
There are many interesting news stories about each class, starting around 1939. The following years have the number of indicated stories: 1940...439 stories; 1941...368; 1942...399; 1943...389; 1944...446; 1945...293; 1946...388; 1947...495; 1948...509; 1949...613; 1950...887 and 1951...264 stories.
Also included are 308 special news stories from 1983 to 1990 of the extremely interesting series of features called: "Whatever Happened To..." These stories mainly highlighted the life history of Anadarko graduates, but also spotlighted many local civic leaders and teachers.
There are 1,756 individual news stories about all grade school, junior high and high school activities. This includes sports, band, chorus and scholastic events. Next in volume are 665 stories about the various activities and social functions of each church in town.
Reports of various birthday parties for you and your friends, which often listed all of those who attended or sent gifts, number 495 clippings. Included are some of the silly little games played at these parties.
There are 479 stories about the several music and speech clubs and their special recitals. These stories often listed everyone who performed and even the name of the music they played or sang.

Social events such as local weddings and family reunions number 403 stories. Business and professionals have 167 stories.
Rainbow girl activities are featured in 119 stories. Early stories tell about the founding of our local Rainbow chapter.
Also included are many cute LETTERS TO SANTA, written when we were all much younger and very naive. These old published letters will be absolutely priceless to your grandchildren.
An ancient newspaper axiom says: "personal names make the news". Familiar names of early-day friends and relatives are what this book proudly features. Several thousand individual names are included in these pages.
Another valuable use of DAYS OF GLORY would be for the accurate dating and identification of old undated school snapshots. Matchups between past events and forgotten dates will now be very easy to recall.
In one special area of the book, the full legal names of several of our favorite teachers are listed. Not many people know the complete names of F. F. Andrews, R. L. McLane, Earl C. Everett, Ferris M. Thompson, C. Wilbur Gillett, Phoebe J. Freelin and Kenneth C. Moore. Can you name them?
The book features a durable purple library-quality vinyl hardcover with gold foil stamping of the title, reflecting the proud Anadarko Warrior colors.
High-grade paper stock makes DAYS OF GLORY a cherished heirloom that will be read, studied and enjoyed for many generations to come.
