The struggle within - we all approach it daily. Whether our conflicts are mental or physical, we as humans all experience an aspect of struggle at some level. At times just getting through the day may be difficult. Other times we can push our thoughts free by distracting our minds with the day-to-day activities. We can confront or allow these conflicts to consume us. Either way, through these internal struggles we define ourselves, each growing and evolving into the individual beings we are.
In this collection of work I visually explore some of my own struggles as well as those of people I have known through the years. These images deal with difficult and emotional topics such as abuse, addiction, and even the comprehension of ones own mortality. I see dreams as a powerful coping mechanism for our internal struggles and several of the images consider conflict through this realm.
The images in this collection were created between 2005 and 2008.
