I enjoy travelling to places that are off the beaten path. Here's are some of my favorite places to go to:
Pinnacles National Monument is a ruggedly beautiful places located near Salinas, California. Spring and fall are the beast times to visit. The main attraction at the park are the caves formed by rock falls into the canyons. The GORP site has further information on Pinnacles.
A little more crowded but still worth the trip is Muir Woods National Monument a few miles north of San Francisco. After visiting the redwoods be sure to go over to the coast and visit one of California's premier clothing-optional beaches called Redrock Beach. Speaking of clothing optional: Check out the web page for the Sequoians, a clothes-free club that I am a proud member of. It is located in Castro Valley, California - just a few miles from San Francisco.
Here are some links to travel sites that I have found to be useful. Also check out the recommended guides. Addtionally, there are links to travelling with dog.
